WALK FOR HUNGER 2004 The Walk for Hunger is the oldest continuous pledge walk in the country and the largest annual one-day fundraiser to alleviate local hunger. The Walk is held the first Sunday in May each year. All proceeds from the Walk benefit Project Bread. Project Bread is the single largest agency dedicated to ending Hunger in Massachusetts. All locations in eastern Massachusetts are asked to form walk teams. These teams can be made up of associates, friends and family members. In addition to walkers, Stop & Shop associates staff the last rest stop on the route and donates product, bags and money to the event. Stop & Shop is a leadership sponsor of this event, donating about $25,000 each year to support walk activities.
